T-birds get blanked
SPOKANE - The Thunderbirds at least didn’t have to travel back to Seattle burdened by heavy egos Friday night after they were blanked 3-0 by the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League play.
The T-birds are back in action tonight at 7 in KeyArena against Tri-City.
The victory pushed the Chiefs to 12-2-1 in the U.S. Division while the T-birds dropped to 6-4-2.
Jared Spurgeon scored the only goal the Chiefs needed at 8:42 of the first period, with the assists going to Drayson Bowman and Mitch Wahl. In the third period, Levko Koper put Spokane up 2-0 on an unassisted goal, and then Chris Bruton connected off an assist from Judd Blackwater.
